Tokyo Police Club’s Bathroom Blog

TCP's drummer hangs his head in shame, now that the truth has slipped out
I stumbled across a wicked cool link while researching a feature I’m writing about the pride of Newmarket, Tokyo Police Club, who are currently touring all over North America in support of their soon to be released full length LP, Elephant Shell. They’ve come up with a novel approach to tour blogging; rather than give you the boring details of going from show to show, keyboardist Graham Wright has taken to writing specifically about the various restrooms he encounters along the way, briefly discussing their merits and ranking them on a scale out of 50 on such things as cleanliness, amenities, décor and functionality (always the clincher).

To get all the gruesome details first-hand, click here: Exclaim.ca’s Tokyo Police Club Tour Blog. While you’re there, do yourself a favour and check out the rest of the Exclaim site. It’s a noteworthy publication, to say the least.

I just got off the phone with TCP’s drummer, Greg Alsop, who was stepping out of the shower in a Dallas hotel room when I called. It was definitely one of the most interesting interviews I’ve ever done, what with Alsop accidentally exposing himself to his bandmates mid-interview as he attempted to towel off. “We’ve bridged a gap,” he he tells me humbly over peals of laughter in the background. “There’s nothing else we don’t know about one another.”

I’m really looking forward to putting the whole article together, but you’ll have to wait to read the whole piece. It’s scheduled to run at blogTO in the days leading up to their sold out Toronto show at the Opera House on May 2nd.
