Easy Way Out: Steal the Show

April 25th, 2008 by stv

Easy Way Out
It’s been a long road for Toronto’s Easy Way Out. They started out as an instrumental rock trio that couldn’t find a reliable vocalist, only to suddenly find they had two.

Now as a fully formed quintet with the addition of a singer (Jay Flores-Holz, formerly of The Urban Street Scandal) and rapper George Reefah (perhaps not his real name), EWO is dropping Steal the Show, a full-length release highlighting their hip-hop infused progressive riff-rock indie sound.

It sounds like the mix is working out for them. Reefah rhymes with a nice, laid-back flow (listen to “High Life (Remix)” for subtle tips on how to be as relaxed as he is) that still rolls with heavy tracks, and Flores-Holz delivers the rock with a surpising amount of soul for white dude, and they manage to create a nice balance in the common ground between two usually disparate schools of thought in the process.
